Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
Students interested in a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis in Microbiology, contact Marc Erhardt with a brief statement of interest and a CV. For us it is important to identify motivation, to demonstrate this, a short statement of which project you would like to participate in or what methods you would like to focus on would benefit your application.

Two PhD positions within the DFG SPP2330 funded project on the Zorya anti-phage defense system

In the complex interplay between bacteriophages and their bacterial hosts, anti-phage defense mechanisms, such as the recently discovered Zorya system, play a crucial role. This project, funded under the SPP 2330 "New concepts in prokaryotic virus-host interactions," aims to investigate fundamental immune mechanisms of bacteria against bacteriophages through a combination of live-cell microscopy, biochemistry, and bacterial genetics.
